(Correspondent Wang Yali) On December 23, Wuhan University held an appointment ceremony for associate dean and liberal arts instructor of Hongyi School of Wuhan University in a conference room of the administrative building. Zhou Yezhong, member of the Standing Committee of the Party Committee and vice president of Wuhan University attended the ceremony. Other guests who attended the ceremony included relevant leaders from the Organization Department, the Personnel Department, the Undergraduate School, the School of Mathematics and Statistics, the School of Philosophy, and some teachers from Hongyi School. The ceremony was hosted by Zhang Shaodong, Dean of the Undergraduate School.

Shi Jing, Dean of Hongyi School, on behalf of the university, announced the employment of Professor Su Dechao and Professor Yang Zhijian as associate deans of Hongyi School, and Professor Jiang Bai’an and Mr. Yi Dong as liberal arts instructors of Hongyi School. Professor Su Dechao said that the new position is a new challenge for him and he is willing to grow together with teachers of Hongyi School. Professor Yang Zhijian said that he will definitely fulfill his job responsibilities and adapt to the working environment of Hongyi School as soon as possible, since he has accepted this important position. Professor Jiang Bai’an said on behalf of the liberal arts instructors that he will use the work experience and perspectives accumulated during his founding of Weekend Art to improve the humanistic quality of students of Hongyi School, and to do a good job with a careful, rigorous and satisfactory attitude.

In the concluding speech, Vice President Zhou Yezhong emphasized that based on the discipline background of Wuhan University, Hongyi School should implement the training philosophy of “compatibility of science and arts, integration of China and the West, fusion of ancient and modern times”, with the aim of “cultivating high-level talents”, to develop itself gradually. It is expected that under the guidance of the liberal arts education philosophy, Hongyi School should promote the construction of the art activities of the whole university with the art activities of the College. It is hoped that the two associate deans can coordinate the relationship between scientific research, teaching and management, and fulfill their duties and responsibilities. The Undergraduate School is also hoped to provide its full support to Hongyi School.
