On May 11, CACE 10thNational University THS BIM Applied Skills Contest Finals took place online synchronously in Nanning in Guangxi and Lanzhou in Gansu, two major cities on the Belt & Road. This edition of the event was sponsored by CACE and jointly organized by Lanzhou Jiaotong University, Guangxi University, and THS from Shenzhen. In November 2018, its online elimination stage started. It attracted more than 10,000 students in more than 2,000 teams from 520 universities from across the country. After the online elimination stage, 463 teams from 459 universities, such as Wuhan University, Tongji University, and Southeast University, advanced to the finals.
Our success was attributed to excellent preparations. The School of Civil Engineering took this contest seriously – it appointed a coaching team specifically in charge of organizing and training for the contest. Starting as of September 2018, this coaching team made selections from the candidates and trained them. Chen Yuehua and Kong Wentao, teachers from Engineering Management Department, were responsible for providing guidance for the students to participate in the contest; they meticulously organized training and carried out mock training. Through internal qualifying selections, a team to participate in the contest finals was finally determined – it consisted of Wang Jianming, Chen Kexin, Liu Yu, Wangye Lingyi, Wu Jiaxian, and so forth, who were undergraduates in civil engineering and mechanics. During the training and competition, the team members overcame all sorts of challenges and appropriately balanced studying and contesting; they were united in teamwork and competed unyieldingly. They fully represented the spirit of the university and its students – innovation, collaboration, progressiveness, leadership …
