1. Requirements for Application
Overseas Chinese students, or students from Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan may apply if they are qualified as a senior middle school graduate (equivalent to middle school sixth grade), have shown good moral outlook, without criminal records, are physically healthy, and conform to any of the following application criteria provided by the National Office for Joint Enrollment of Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students (hereinafter “the Office”):
1) A student from Hong Kong or Macau in possession of a permanent resident ID card in Hong Kong or Macao, and a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents.
2) A student from Hong Kong or Macau in possession of a non-permanent resident ID card in Hong Kong or Macao, and a Mainland Travel Permit for Hong Kong and Macao Residents.
3) A student from Taiwan in possession of a Mainland Travel Permit for Taiwan Residents.
4) An overseas Chinese student must have obtained a long-term or permanent residency in a foreign country, and possess record of over 2 years of actual residence in a foreign country during the recent 4 years (as of the end of the application period; residing in a foreign country for 9 whole months in one year is deemed as 1 year; living aboard due to study or work does not constitute residence). Applicants should apply for the examination in person, while carrying a certificate or notarization issued by a Chinese embassy or consulate proving their long-term or permanent residency in a foreign country. Overseas Chinese applicants shall make applications and take examinations at the Shanghai, Fujian or Guangzhou recruitment stations, as the Beijing, Hong Kong and Macao stations do not serve overseas Chinese applicants.
All documents held by the applicants shall be within its validity period.
For the applicants’ physical conditions, Guidelines on Physical Examination in General Institutions of Higher Education Enrollment jointly issued by the Ministry of Education, the Ministry of Health, and China Disabled Persons Federation, and Supplementary Regulations on Student Applicant Physical and Health Conditions by Wuhan University based on the former shall apply.
2. Methods and time of application
The application for joint enrollment 2015 will utilize a combination of online preliminary application and on-site formal confirmation. Applicants may register at the Office website (http://www.ecogd.edu.cn), make the application according to the date, location and methods provided by the Office, and inquire their performance and admission statuses at the website.
II. Examination
1. The Office designated the following subjects to be tested:
For literature and history majors: Chinese, Mathematics, English, History, and Geography.
For science, engineering, agriculture, and medicine majors: Chinese, Mathematics, English, Physics, and Chemistry.
Each test has a total score of 150, and combined total score is 750.
For the content and requirements of the tests, please refer to Examination Syllabus of Joint Enrollment of Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students by General Institutions of Higher Education (2005) prepared by the Ministry of Education.
2. Date and location of examination
Please refer to the date and locations provided by the Guide to Joint Enrollment of Overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan Students by General Institutions of Higher Education 2015, issued by the Office.
3. Test method
The joint enrollment examination 2015 utilizes a computer online review system. Applicants must write down their answers on special answer sheets, with choice and non-choice questions answered in designated areas on the sheets. Writing the questions outside the designated areas is invalid.
III. Enrollment Plan
For the year of 2015, our school plans to admit about 100 overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students via joint enrollment. The plan can be adjusted based on students’ conditions, as the planned number of students can be decreased or expanded according to the number and quality of applicants.
Our school will not accept any preparatory overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao or Taiwan students.
IV. Admission
The students will be accepted at the date determined by the Office. Our school will select high-quality applicants who have met the national requirements, are physically healthy, and have reported an intention for our school, whose joint enrollment examination performance is no lower than 150 points above the control line for the first university group.
Our school will give higher priorities to students whose first intention is Wuhan University.
V. Examination
1. Admitted students shall attend the school with their Letters of Admission, on the date specified by the Letters. In case they are unable to attend for whatever reason, students should apply for a temporary leave in advance, and receive the approval of the school. Students who have failed to attend without any leave application will be disqualified from admission.
2. After new students have attended the school, a review of their qualifications and physical examinations will be conducted. Students who do not meet the criteria for overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students, who are fraudulent, and whose physical conditions do not meet the criteria, will be disqualified. Students who are generally qualified but do not meet the limiting conditions of a certain major may change their major through consultation.
VI. Tuition and Fees
Admitted overseas Chinese, Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan students should pay tuitions and other assorted fees at entrance, by the same standards as mainland students of the same majors.
VII. Miscellaneous
1. Hong Kong students will share dormitories with mainland students of the same major and shall pay the same boarding fee.
2. Students will be managed according to the relevant regulations of the Ministry of Education and Wuhan University. Students may leave mainland for visits in summer and winter vacation.
3. A credit system and a flexible educational system are utilized for the academic progress of students. According to the Interim Regulations for Recruitment and Training of Students from Hong Kong Special Administrative Region, Macao Special Administrative Region and Taiwan Province by General Institutions of Higher Education, non-mainland students are exempted from courses of political theory. Students are allowed to graduate after they have completed required courses and gained required credits. Eligible students will be awarded bachelor's degree by Wuhan University.
4. In general principle, non-mainland students should return to their original places of residence after graduation.
5. When registering, the period of validity of the exit-entry document held by Hong Kong students should be consistent with the period of study.
6. In case of any changes to regulations by the Ministry of Education and the Office in 2015, the new regulations shall apply.
7. Based on the Ministry of Education’s regulations, our school has issued a separate enrollment plan and guidelines for examination-free students from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan. Please refer to the undergraduate enrollment website of Wuhan University (www.aoff.whu.edu.cn).
VIII. Supervision Mechanism
