According to relevant rules for enrollment of art-major students of general institutions of higher education issued by Ministry of Education and actual conditions of Wuhan University, the University decides to enroll art-major students in art of broadcasting and hosting, design (including two majors: product design and environmental design), film and television drama literature, performance (including two majors: film and television drama performance and vocal performance).

I. Art of Broadcasting and Hosting

(1) Enrollment: 24 persons

(2) Academic program and category: undergraduate, arts (students in both arts and science)

(3) Requirements for Application

Students who are qualified applicants for 2015 National Higher Education Entrance Examination and of good character as well as sound mental and physical health, and following:

1. Have regular features and appealing looking. Boys shall be 170cm above, girls 160cm above;

2. Have healthy vocal organs, free from color blindness or color amblyopia;

3. Be highly proficient in Mandarin, almost flawless in pronunciation, natural in tones and fluent in expression during recital and communication.

4. Be quick thinkers and well capable of verbal and written expression.

5. English as the foreign language.

In case a unified arts examination is organized by the enrollment office in applicant provinces, applicants shall take part in the examination and achieve required results.

(4) Method of Application

Both application and examination fee payment shall be conducted on internet, so as to appoint exam sites and time. Applicants shall print Application Form for Art of Broadcasting and Hosting of Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as Broadcasting Application Form) and Admission Tickets for Examination of Art of Broadcasting and Hosting of Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as Admission Ticket) by themselves.

(5) Profession Exam

Professional exam includes preliminary exam and secondary exam. The University will set exam sites in Beijing and Wuhan for preliminary exam. Those who pass the preliminary exam will proceed to secondary exam, which is at the School of Journalism and Communication, Wuhan University.

Applicants shall arrive at exam site at required time. Along with applicants are original and copy of China second generation identity card (or temporary identity card), application form of national higher education entrance examination, broadcasting application form with signatures of applicants and stamp of applicant school), admission ticket for preliminary (secondary) exam, 1 recently taken colorful photo of bareheaded applicants (same as the photo uploaded in application system).

1. Preliminary exam: check the applicants’ voice, appearance, wording and verbal expression capacity, and knowledge of hosting.

(1) Free hosting (within 2 minutes), 70%;

(2) Answer the questions of examiner (within 1 minutes), 30%.

2. Secondary exam

(1) Recital of literary works (focus on applicants’ speech sound, voice conditions and ability to express emotions through words, within 2 minutes), accounting for 30%.

(2) Improvised topic (focus on applicants’ quick thinking, logically verbal expression and resourcefulness, within 2.5 minutes), accounting for 40%.

(3) Simulating on-the-spot report (focus on applicant’s news sensitivity, observation of news elements, organizational capabilities and other news literacy, within 2 minutes), accounting for 30%.

(6) Issuance of qualification certificate

The list of qualified candidates will be determined based on applicants’ performance in secondary exam and enrollment plan, and posted on the website of Undergraduate Enrollment of Wuhan University. After public notice to which there is no objection, qualified candidates can print the Notice of Professional Examination Certificate of Art Majors of Wuhan University from the application system.

(7) Admission Method

After obtaining Notice of Professional Examination Certificate of Art Majors of Wuhan University, qualified candidates shall have to take part in National Higher Education Entrance Examination (hereinafter referred to as National Exam). According to their performance in secondary exam, students will be admitted from candidates whose scores (excluding scores added according to policy) in National Exam reach 90% or above (rounded into integer) of tier-1 university admission score (hereinafter referred to as tier-1 admission score, if there are two types of tier-1 admission score, Type A and B, Type A (higher one) shall apply) in the student provinces (or autonomous regions, municipalities).

II. Design (including product design and environmental design)

Only students in fine arts will be enrolled in design discipline. Enrolled students will be assigned to environmental design and product design.

(1) Enrollment: 60 persons from Henan, Hubei, Hunan, Guangdong and Guangxi provinces.

(2) Academic program and category: undergraduate, arts (students in both arts and science)

(3) Requirements for Application

Students who are qualified applicants for 2015 National Higher Education Entrance Examination and of good character as well as sound mental and physical health, and following:

1. Free from color blindness or color amblyopia

2. Have taken part in the unified fine arts examination organized by enrolled office in student province (hereinafter referred to as Provincial Exam) and passed the exam.

(4) Method of Application

Both application and examination fee payment shall be conducted on internet. Applicants shall print Admission Tickets for Examination of Design Discipline of Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as Design Examination Admission Ticket) by themselves.

(5) Profession Exam

1. Time and Location

Wuhan University will set exam site for professional exam at each province for enrollment (hereinafter referred to as University Exam). The applicants shall carry with originals and copies of China second generation identity card (or temporary identity card), admission ticket for Provincial Exam and Design Examination Admission Ticket, and arrive at University Exam site at required time.

2. Subjects of Professional Exam

(1) Structure outline: check applicant’s ability to observe and shape the object accurately and vividly. Sketch is taken as test method. Time: 150 minutes; marks: 100.

(2) Design basics: check applicant’s daily life observance, imagination ability, sensitivity to the expression forms of arts, and knowledge of design basics and expression skills. Time: 150 minutes; marks: 100.

(6) Issuance of qualification certificate

The list of qualified candidates will be determined based on applicants’ performance in professional exam and enrollment plan, and posted on the website of Undergraduate Enrollment of Wuhan University. The number of planned to enroll in each province will be determined upon the number of persons who actually take part in exam. After public notice to which there is no objection, qualified candidates can print the Notice of Professional Examination Certificate of Art Majors of Wuhan University from the application system.

(7) Admission Method

After obtaining certificate, according to their performance in exams (Provincial Exam + University Exam + National Exam), students will be admitted from candidates whose scores (excluding scores added according to policy) in National Exam reach 70% or above (rounded into integer) of tier-1 university admission score (if there are two types of tier-1 admission score, Type A and B, Type A (higher one) shall apply) in the student provinces (or autonomous regions, municipalities) and are not lower than the local minimum admission score for art-major students.

III. Film and television drama literature

(1) Enrollment: 20 persons

(2) Academic program and category: undergraduate, arts (students in both arts and science)

(3) Requirements for Application

Students who are qualified applicants for 2015 National Higher Education Entrance Examination, of good character as well as sound mental and physical health, loves film and television drama literature and have deep knowledge of literature and arts.

In case a unified arts examination is organized by the enrollment office in applicant provinces, applicants shall take part in the examination and achieve required results.

(4) Method of Application

Both application and examination fee payment shall be conducted on internet (click here for application), so as to appoint exam sites and time. Applicants shall print Application Form for Film and Television Drama Literature of Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as Film and Television Drama Application Form) and Admission Tickets for Examination of Film and Television Drama Literature of Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as Admission Ticket) by themselves.

(5) Profession Exam

Professional exam includes preliminary exam and secondary exam which focus on applicant’s knowledge of literature and arts. The University will set exam sites in Beijing and Wuhan for preliminary exam. Those who pass the preliminary exam will proceed to secondary exam, which is at the Wuhan University.

Applicants shall arrive at exam site at required time. Along with applicants are original and copy of China second generation identity card (or temporary identity card, other documents invalid), application form of national higher education entrance examination, film and television drama literature application form with signatures of applicants and stamp of applicant school), admission ticket for preliminary (secondary) exam, 1 recently taken colorful photo of bareheaded applicants (same as the photo uploaded in application system).

1. Preliminary Exam (interview), within 10 minutes, full marks: 100.

(1) Examination of art literacy: applicants select questions and answer; full marks: 30.

(2) Improvising: applicants improvise orally according to selected material; full marks: 70.

2. Secondary Exam (written exam), within 150 minutes (including 30 minutes’ playing of video; full marks: 100.

(1) Film review (around 700 characters); full mark 40;

(2) Name given composition (around 800 characters); full marks: 60.

(6) Issuance of qualification certificate

The list of qualified candidates will be determined based on applicants’ performance in secondary exam and enrollment plan, and posted on the website of Undergraduate Enrollment of Wuhan University. After public notice to which there is no objection, qualified candidates can print the Notice of Professional Examination Certificate of Art Majors of Wuhan University from the application system.

(7) Admission Method

After obtaining Notice of Professional Examination Certificate of Art Majors of Wuhan University, qualified candidates shall have to take part in National Higher Education Entrance Examination (hereinafter referred to as National Exam). According to their performance in secondary exam, students will be admitted from candidates whose scores (excluding scores added according to policy) in National Exam reach 90% or above (rounded into integer) of tier-1 university admission score (hereinafter referred to as tier-1 admission score, if there are two types of tier-1 admission score, Type A and B, Type A (higher one) shall apply) in the student provinces (or autonomous regions, municipalities).

IV. Performance

(1) Enrollment: 38 persons including 20 in film and television drama performance and 18 in vocal performance

(2) Academic program and category: undergraduate, arts (students in both arts and science)

(3) Students who are qualified applicants for 2015 National Higher Education Entrance Examination, of good character as well as sound mental and physical health, have good knowledge of arts and following:

1. Have well-proportioned body and regular features; articulate and free from color blindness or color amblyopia;

2. In principle, boys shall be 170 cm or above and girls 160 cm above.

In case a unified arts examination is organized by the enrollment office in the applicant provinces, applicants shall take part in the examination and achieve required results. If the unified art examination is divided into music, film and television, and performance, the University requires applicants (vocal performance) to take part in and pass the unified music examination, performance applicants (film and television drama performance) to take part in and pass the unified film and television examination or performance examination.

(4) Method of Application

Both application and examination fee payment shall be conducted on internet (click here for application), so as to appoint exam sites and time. Applicants shall print Application Form for Performance Discipline of Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as Performance Application Form) and Admission Tickets for Examination of Performance Discipline of Wuhan University (hereinafter referred to as Admission Ticket) by themselves.

(5) Profession Exam

Professional exam includes preliminary exam and secondary exam. The University will set exam sites in Beijing and Wuhan, Hubei. Those who pass the preliminary exam will proceed to secondary exam, which is at the Wuhan University.

Film and television drama performance

1. Preliminary Exam, full marks: 100.

(1) Recital (optional poetry: ancient or modern, within 3 minutes), accounting for 50%;

(2) Vocal or body performance (optional), accounting for 50%.

2. Secondary exam, full marks: 100.

(1) Lines (from literary genres other than poetry, such as essay, story, excerpt of a novel, monologue of drama figures, within 3 minutes), accounting for 30%;

(2) Performance (topic given), accounting 30%;

(3) Body assessment (coordination test, body structure (clip)), accounting for 20%.

(4) Vocal (self-designated song and examiner designated song), accounting for 20%.

Note: during examination, all applicants shall wear flat show and no make-up or shirts.

Vocal performance

1. Preliminary exam, full marks: 100.

(1) 2 performances of vocal music works (optional), accounting for 90%;

(2) Body (coordination test, body performance (clip)), account for 10%.

2. Secondary exam, full marks: 100

(1) 2 performances of vocal music works (applicants shall prepare 4 vocal music works of different styles at intermediate level or above, examiner will select 2 out of the 4), accounting for 80%;

(2) Written test: paper test, within 90 minutes, including ear-training 8% and music theory 5%;

(3) Solfeggio, accounting for 7%.

Optional test: talent show (musical instrument or dancing), 3 marks maximum.

Note: In preliminary and secondary exams of vocal performance, applicants shall prepare piano accompaniment personnel or accompaniment CD.

(6) Issuance of qualification certificate

The list of qualified candidates will be determined based on applicants’ performance in secondary exam and enrollment plan, and posted on the website of Undergraduate Enrollment of Wuhan University. After public notice to which there is no objection, qualified candidates can print the Notice of Professional Examination Certificate of Art Majors of Wuhan University from the application system.

(7) Admission Method

After obtaining qualification certificate, qualified candidates shall have to take part in National Higher Education Entrance Examination. According to their performance in secondary exam, students will be admitted from candidates whose scores (excluding scores added according to policy) in National Exam reach 60% or above (rounded into integer) of tier-1 university admission score (hereinafter referred to as tier-1 admission score, if there are two types of tier-1 admission score, Type A and B, Type A (higher one) shall apply) in the student provinces (or autonomous regions, municipalities).

V. Notes

1. The brochure is subject to changes in 2015 arts major enrollment regulation issued by Ministry of Education and local provincial (autonomous region and municipality) government.

2. Students enrolled in art majors cannot change into another major.

3. Applicants cannot take part in the exams of same discipline in different exam sites. For performance discipline, applicants can only apply for one profession direction.

4. If the full marks of art major applicants and general applicants are not the same, the University will convert the tier-1 university admission score (rounded into integer) as per certain ratio, then admit students according to art major enrollment requirements.

5. Once a student is found to have committed frauds or other dishonest conducts, the student will be denied exam results, admission and registration according to relevant rules of the state and the University. For those who have obtained academic status, their academic statuses will be denied. The names of denied students will be reported to the enrollment examination office of the student provinces. Vacancy will not be filled up.

VI. Supervision Mechanism
