The online teaching work of the first Clinical College has been successfully carried out in the new semester.

On the front line of fighting the epidemic, they are soldiers and heroes in harm’s way, bravely rushing forward for the health of the people, regardless of life or death. However, under the call of Wuhan University to "suspend classes and continue to teach, suspend classes and continue to learn", they overcame numerous difficulties and resolutely stepped into the new battlefield of online teaching, acting as anchors to implement online teaching to ensure that the teaching this semester will not be affected. They are angels in white of the First Clinical College of Wuhan University (Hubei Provincial People's Hospital and Wuhan University People's Hospital). They are not only doctors ,but also teachers !

The First Clinical College plans to offer 39 undergraduate courses this semester, involving nearly 600 students in five grades and four academic systems.  Although the time for epidemic containment is tight, both the task and workload is heavy, and there are many complicated types of classes, in particular, the teachers in our hospital are all frontline medical personnel.  However, in the survey of soliciting opinions, except for the front-line departments in the isolation ward, the teaching and research offices that undertook the teaching task this semester all expressed their willingness to overcome the difficulties and start the class on time.

In order to complete the online teaching work with high quality, the college has fully developed its wisdom and responsibility, organized the online special meeting at the first time, set up a liaison group, made a policy of one lesson and one strategy, and each office has formulated appropriate teaching plans based on their actual situation.  Online teaching is a big challenge for teachers. They earnestly become "primary students" who learn online teaching tools, doing their homework fully, and enter the live training classroom to "learn";  Join QQ and WeChat technical support group and watch live broadcasting, continuously seek the solution of technical problems, and explore the easy way of video production; Prepare multi-channel and multi-method pre-plans and record lecture videos in advance to avoid live broadcast jams. All teachers have established curriculum teaching groups to connect with students. Most teachers have already started online communication with students. The college also seized the learning opportunity of online teaching in a special period, accumulated experience and explored a new online and offline mixed education and teaching mode with the characteristics of clinical medical schools.

    Today, February 17, online teaching has officially started, all teachers and students are ready to welcome the first day of the new semester. At the beginning of the course, the "Learning Pass” teaching platform was unable to log in due to excessive visits. The college immediately launched an alternative plan and moved to the QQ group for online video playing, supplemented by online Q&A discussions, to ensure that the teaching proceeded in an orderly manner.  Professor Lei Tiechi, Director of the Department of Dermatology, Professor Zhou Qing, Director of the Department of Ultrasound, and Professor  Wang Zongchun of the Department of Pharmacy, as the first lecturers of their respective courses, organize students to preview before class, do a good job of online live broadcast, assessment, and guidance, always keep in mind the mission of education, and carry out teachers' duties with practical actions.  The college's teaching supervisors and management personnels also supervise the whole process online to ensure the teaching effect. At the same time, the teaching secretary and instructor teachers pay close attention to the students' dynamics in real time and carry out various work such as class management, so as to strengthen the students' psychological defense against the epidemic.

While sticking to the front line, the workers in the ultrasound department, dermatology department and pharmacy department shoulder the responsibility of teaching.

As online lectures, meanwhile, they carry out answering questions and discussing difficulties in QQ group for the most difficult points.

Just as jade needs to be polished, one needs to go through trials and tribulations to be strong. At present, the fight against the epidemic is still at a critical stage. Teachers in the college,  should take responsibility for their students. As a doctor, one must take responsibility for the patient; as a citizen, one must take responsibility for the country.  As future doctors, students should enrich and strengthen themselves, and lay a solid foundation for future work with what they have learned. One day, they will wear white clothes and fight side by side with their teachers.
