According to the relevant documents issued by Ministry of Education and the practical situation of Wuhan University, Wuhan University will continue to recruit students by recommendation in 2015: the university will recruit students with specialty in foreign language and students with outstanding performance in competitions by recommendation and recruit excellent athletes without examination.

I. Requirements for Application

(1) Students with specialty in foreign language recommended for admission

Current-year high school graduates with specialty in English, Russian, Germany, French or Japanese who meet the requirements for application of the 2015 College Entrance Examination and have finished their senior high school education in the 16 foreign language high schools with the qualification to recommend students with specialty in foreign language for admission approved by Ministry of Education, and abide by laws and disciplines, have good character, good mental and physical health, and good performance, can apply for admission to Wuhan University.

(2) Students with outstanding performance in competitions recommended for admission

Students with outstanding performance in competitions recommended for admission who meet the relevant requirements of Ministry of Education can apply for admission to Wuhan University.

(3) Excellent athletes recommended for admission without examination

Excellent athletes who meet the requirements in document T.K.Z. No. [2014] 177 Notice on Relevant Matters about Admission of Excellent Athletes to Institutions of Higher Education without Examination in 2015 issued by General Administration of Sport can apply for admission to Wuhan University.

II. Enrollment Plan and Majors

The university plans to recruit 55 recommended students with specialty in foreign languages, with 35 for majors in English (including translation), 5 for major of Russian, 5 for major of Germany, 5 for major of French, and 5 for major of Japanese. The university may adjust the enrollment plans of each major based on the number of applications received.

Enrollment plan of other recommended students will be subject to the number of applicants.

III. Admission Procedures for Recommended Foreign Language Students

1. Application

Eligible students shall apply through the undergraduate admission service system of Wuhan University (click here to enter) before 16:00 January 11, 2015. Application documents shall be mailed or brought to the Enrollment Office of Wuhan University (No. 299, Bayi Road, Wuchang District, Wuhan City, Hubei Province, Post Code: 430072) before 12:00 January 13, 2015 (subject to postmark on the receipt day). Application documents shall include:

(1) Application Form for Recommend Students in 2015 (with personal signature of recommend student and stamp of their high school);

(2) 1 recently-taken full-length colored photo;

(3) Original copy of Health Examination Form issued by hospitals of county-level or above;

(4) Transcript showing results of tests of academic proficiency (with official stamp of the office of academic affairs of the student's high school);

(5) Other factual materials that reflect the growth and development of the student.

All application documents shall be printed in A4 sized paper and shall be bound in order (standard left-side binding for A4 paper; the Application Form shall be used as the cover and the documents shall be bound in the order of 1 to 5; please do not make a separate cover). All application documents shall have the stamp of the student's high school, and will not be returned. Applications that do not meet the requirements, unqualified application documents or failure to deliver application documents in time will be deemed as invalid application.

The university will review the application documents to determine the list of admitted candidates, and will publish the list on the website for undergraduate enrollment of Wuhan University.

2. Examination

Recommend students who apply for admission to Wuhan University have to take the examination organized by the university. The examination will be held on January 17, 2015 for a whole day. Candidate students shall pay the examination fee (170.00 Yuan) through online bank since the university does not provide other means for payment. Candidate students shall print the Admission Ticket on their own after payment. Failure to make payment within prescribed time will be deemed a waiver of the examination.

Candidate students shall come to the university to take the examination in the morning of January 17, 2015 with their ID card (or interim ID card, other credentials are not accepted) and Admission Ticket according to the requirements specified in the Admission Ticket. Failure to apply and take the examination in accordance with the requirements specified in the Admission Ticket will be deemed as a waiver of the examination.

The examination mainly tests the foreign language skill and level of the students. It consists of a written test and an interview, with full score of 200 points. The written test, which has a full score of 100 points, does not include listening test and will last for 90 minutes; the interview, which has a full score of 100 points, will include self-introduction, questions and answers, topic discussion and free talking, and will test the ability of students in listening, speaking and integrated use of their specific language.

3. Admission and Publicity

The university will uphold the principle of recruiting only those who are outstanding, and will determine the list of pre-admitted students based on the enrollment plan and examination results. The list will be publicized on the website for undergraduate enrollment of Wuhan University as well as the Transparent Admission platform of the Ministry of Education. The university will send the Letter of Pre-Admission for Foreign Language Students of Wuhan University in 2015 to the pre-admitted students in the final admission list.

If the Ministry of Education adjusts the policies on enrollment of students recommended for admission in 2015, the new policies will be implemented.

4. Admission Confirmation

Pre-admitted recommended students shall confirm their admission through the undergraduate admission service system before 16:00 March 16, 2015. Failure to confirm admission will be deemed a waiver of admission. Vacancies will not be supplemented.

5. Letter of Admission

The university will submit the list of pre-admitted students to the enrollment office of the provincial region where the student is from and relevant authorities such as Ministry of Education according to relevant regulations, and will go through the admission procedures. The Letter of Admission of admitted students will be sent out after the College Entrance Examination.

IV. Notes

1. Recommended students with outstanding performance in competitions and excellent athletes may contact the enrollment office of Wuhan University directly to apply for admission. The university will organize necessary examination accordingly. Eligible students will be admitted according to the relevant national policies and procedures.

2. All pre-admitted students recommended for admission shall apply for College Entrance Examination of the province (autonomous region, municipality) where the student is from, and shall go through the procedures specified by the enrollment office of the province (autonomous region, municipality) .

3. Admission of all recommended students shall be verified by Ministry of Education for their qualification, and shall be publicized on the "Transparent Admission" platform of the Ministry of Education; otherwise the admission will be rejected.

4. All pre-admitted students shall also meet the requirements specified by the enrollment office of the provincial region where the student is from.

5. As stipulated by Ministry of Education, recommended foreign language students must not change for major other than foreign language.

6. If a student is found of any rule-breaking conducts such as fraud or other dishonest conducts such as cheating, the admission qualification of such student will be cancelled once the conducts are confirmed according to relevant regulations of the country and Wuhan University, the student status of such student (if any) will be revoked, and such conducts will be reported to the enrollment and examination department of the provincial region where the student is from. Vacancies will not be supplemented. If any high school is found of conducts such as fraud, the qualification for recommendation of such school will be revoked for the next year and such conducts will be reported to the education administration department of the provincial region where the school is located.

V. Supervision Mechanism

The Supervision Department of Wuhan University will participate in and supervise the whole process of the enrollment, and will deal with complaints of students. Students may contact jwo@whu.edu.cn for complaint or report.
